UP:cycle
Tasty round-up
UP:cycle people, check out the collection of precycled goodies that I gathered here and there and even here for you:
Starting with the humble but nonetheless toxic plastic bag, I give you the DIY plastic pouch that you can easily make from ironing out and sewing your extra plastic bags lurking under the sink counter.
Close second and hailing all the way from Australia comes the Trash Bag. Made from melted plastic bags and treated to feel like leather, this plastic fantastic product is a killer app for summer fun at the beach.
Did you know that cows give out a lot of lethal global warming gases? Yep. So if you drink a lot of milk, you may want to reconsider recycling the empties when you check out the fab Milkyway suspended lamp by Alexander Reh.
Capetowner Heath Nash strikes a pose with this “nothing need be wasted” room divider entirely made from cutout precycled plastic flowers, made by hand with love in his local community.
To finish off the plastics section, here is the wonderful Tide chandelier of beachcomber meets designer, Stuart Haygarth.
Cesaria Evora might be a singing diva for some of us, but for Emiliano Godoy she is an industrial chic DIY wall mounted storage unit made from metal cans. He’s been making them since… 1997!!
High design wünderkind Werner Asslinger put his beautiful brains to work on this stunning book bookshelf made in the best of the German systemic style. Haute Precycled never looked so good.
While we’re on the same page as books, check out the very creative and very unique way that Caitlin from Rebound Designs repurposes such classic titles as Alice in Wonderland or Second Year Algebra.
If you are a magazing pack rat, you may have a new spruce-it-yourself decor stacked away. Using a paper shredder and a lot of time on your hands, you can recreate this fantastic wallcovering for your home.
Finally, light up your life with these feel-good lamps from Ambient made from recycled light bulbs. You put them together any way you want to create a table lamp, a suspended lamp or a wall mounted unit. How clever is that.

Fab
upcycle is so wonderful, it is so necessary.
I am always astounded with the beauty that can
come from waste materials.
